Re: Another addition to the stable
Do you mean to do vertically something like the Shop Deputy Work Center Conversion Kit does for Horizontal mounting? I had considered doing one of these in drill press mode on the end of a bench and drop it back down when I needed to power up a SPT for a quick run. Obviously I need longer than 26&qu...

Re: Used SS Pro Planer
The evenness of cut across the table is a function of the jack screws being the same(table corner heights) and the cutter blades. All is adjustable! I downloaded a manual, haven't read thru it yet though. Hopefully there is something on this adjustment, or a post on the forum somewhere. Thanks for ...

Re: Shopsmith Air Compressor System
I have been looking for one of the later CH compressor models for about a year now. Didn't know Goldie's came with 9" blades. I guess the ones I had seen had tables upgraded as all I saw had 10" blades. I had seen Greenies with 9" blades but not the Goldie's. I learn something new fro...

Re: Shopsmith Air Compressor System
Does anyone know if shopsmith ever made an air compressor that mounted on the shopsmith and was powered by the headstock? Someone has it advertized for sale and I was curious if and when shopsmith manufactured it? It's definitely available in 1954. See the attached 1954 Accessories Catalog that lis...

Re: Power Cord Replacement
I just encountered this thread for the first time and really am curious if 14 gauge wire was not what was designed with the 3/4HP motor back in the 1950's and was never revisited thoroughly when they went to 1 1/4HP motors. Changes in start capacitors and circuits on the 1 1/8HP motors could have ma...

Re: Drive belt reassmebly?
As I understand it the damage caused by moving the speed dial with the shafts not moving is a result of the belt getting pinched and putting pressure on the gears. So, if the belt is not installed yet, no damage should be possible even if the shaft is not moving. Yes. The warnings are relevant as t...

Re: Drive belt reassmebly?
Mount the large sanding disk on left or right end of the headstock depending on if you are left or right handed. Rotate the quill and therefore the sheaves (variable speed pulleys) using the disk. Is safer to slowly move the speed dial while rotating quill by hand. Before you move anything, make sur...
