I rehabbed a older bandsaw that had the old rubber bushing instead of bearings. Got it running real nice with a 1/2" blade. I was going to sell it but it runs so nice and I have room...so now I have two bandsaws.
Were you interested in a dust port or viewing port. I added them to both.

Re: Beltsander Alignment
I don't think a small shift is a problem. The power coupler allows small amounts of mis-alignment. If I was worried I'd try to position the belt sander on its mounting tubes such that the error is averaged between the two ideal positions. In your case set things such that each position has one half ...

Re: Did Magna use LEAD PAINT? Restoration Hazard.
I don't like to breath dust from grinding or sanding anymore. When I strip paint I use zip-strip outside. I'm not breathing the zip-strip fumes outside with a light breeze. They banned consumer use of zip-strip but I have a small stash. When I'm out of zip-strip I'll pay to have things bead blasted....

Re: Bandsaw rehab
I bought a bandsaw that had been sitting for years under tension. The well-rusted cast iron table was soaked in oxcilic acid to remove all the rust. I replaced all the rubber guide bushings with cartridge ball bearings. The dried out and ripped tyres were also replaced with blue ones. All is good an...

Re: Cordless nail gun
$40 pancake compressor powers a $20 stapler. I did just this hang insulation in my garage. Added a pin nailer for $20. I've had a budget woodtek trim nailer since the early 90s. It just keeps working. The hose never bothers me. Esp compared to a $350 cordless stapler that's kinda bulky and cumbersom...

Re: Bandsaw - How Much Wobble is OK
I have one bandsaw with eccentrics and one with straight tubes. I haven't been able to line up the straight tubed bandsaw as well as the eccentric one (which is perfectly lined up). As for wobble, I don't notice any difference between the two. On my next order I'll add some eccentric tubes for my ol...

Re: Need help on how get started!!!!
What's broke? If the connecting rod is broke, fabricate a new one. Make a gasket for the crank case cover. Fabricate a table insert. Soak the air pump seals and replace the hose. Scavage a spring for the upper housing. What else is there?

Re: Need help on how get started!!!!
Ed's thread has all the info but it's diluted by our tendency to wander. I used the info from Ed's thread and a few others. Then I overhauled/resto'ed two bandsaws. Here's my single post, very simple: https://www.shopsmith.com/ss_forum/maintenance-and-repair-f10/simple-upgrades-to-cast-iron-table-ba...

Re: Updating my Festool CT26 with bluetooth
It's really quiet. It's intergrated into a complete system approach. Compact and portable. Nobody makes money selling nice stuff to old farts who make stuff in their converted garages and brag how thrifty they are (that's me!). Imagine you're a working carpenter doing custom installs in 100-200 year...

Simple upgrades to cast-iron table bandsaws
There's a great thread but it's long and wandery: https://www.shopsmith.com/ss_forum/maintenance-and-repair-f10/modification-bandsaw-cast-iron-table-version--t8361.html I filtered through it and here's what I did to two older cast iron table bandsaws (1986 and 1980). Tyres: The 1986 has always been ...
