After an almost 20-minute wait on hold, I finally got through to a SS rep. I inquired about my back-ordered power switch. It is supposed to be in Jan 25th and then will ship to me the following day. I also asked if the switch was a known problem and he said they do go out occassionally and need to b...

Indeed it could. I think WE have given it more thought/guessing/analysis than SS! Shall we move on........... Agreed - let's move on to more interesting things! I'm still going to call SS tomorrow morning to see what they have to say about the issue. I'll post here once I make that call

[quote="jpg40504"]drmcroberts From one EE to another] Hmmm, contact bounce. Yup, you are correct "if" there is some contact bounce late enough in the startup cycle. Without a complete analysis of the timing of that particular switch, there is no way to say whether contact bounce ...

Well, my problem is fixed and I'm a very happy SS camper! :) Here's what I did. The power switch used in the newer models is still double-pole, single-throw (DPST) BUT, they only switch the hot-lead to the motor. That means you have an "extra" backup switch built-in to every newer model SS...

Well, it's now 2:07pm PST. That means it's 5:07pm EST and SS is closed for the day :( . Guess I'll just have to wait until tomorrow morning to make the call. One thing about my switch problem is that it is stuck in the "ON" position so I can still get work done. Am currently sanding and fi...

dusty, et all, I hope my replies haven't been taken as being smart-a$^ in nature. I was only attempting to describe how my shop area is set up and what I have done to hopefully make it more usable and without major shortcomings, such as power. My background was meant to give you an idea of my expert...

Is this a new Mark V that you should rightly expect to have the 20a switch or is this an older model that may have the 15a switch. If it is an older model (or a newer model with a 15a switch)...what has just happened is what would should have been expected. A 15a switch is under rated. Then there i...

I have a SS 510 that I bought it in Dec of 2004 but did not put into service until January of 2006 (bought it and then waited to use it until I retired in '05 and moved to Nedada). It has been used intermittently up until the past six months and now is being used a couple of hours two to three days ...

What is really needed is a full "Site Map" of the SS website. This has been asked for previously but seemed to be brushed off for some reason. Before anyone can really make improvements in the website, they must fully understand what exists today. Putting together a full list of everything...

Saw a demo at the Santa Clara Convention Center during one of their Home/Garden shows in 2004. We kept coming back to the demo and finally my wife said, "if you want it then get it". Not wanting to upset her, I purchased the 510 w/Bandsaw and Dust Collector as a package deal they were offe...
