Re: Making a Lie-Nielsen Plane From Start to Finish
At least one example, was the Atari E.T. video game cartridge that was buried in a landfill in the New Mexico desert . This really happened (link below). I don't know why a tool manufacturer would go to the trouble of pouring expensive concrete to render tools inoperable, but I could see it as possi...

Re: Making a Lie-Nielsen Plane From Start to Finish
The points about scrap-parts etc. remind me: My Dad many years ago had dealings with a gent in Mt. Carmel, Illinois, which in those days had a Snap-On Tools foundry. This gent's job including taking any defective wrenches to a site where they were buried in concrete! Yeah, these things are hard to ...

Re: Making a Lie-Nielsen Plane From Start to Finish
Yeah, I have to agree with JPG. I already thought that Shopsmith was a bit of an Erector set for the new owner anyway...then when the PP gets Gremlins you have to be able to do electronics debug so fun if you love that sort of thing like I do. ;) I've said it before and I'll say it again. I love hig...

Re: Large sheet material
There are alternatives to big box stores as well. For example, where I live we have Woodworkers Source ( https://www.woodworkerssource.com/ ), a kind of retail lumberyard might be the best description. They have a nice cabinet TS in the back and do any cutting you might require on sheet goods or lum...

Re: Large sheet material
I can probably say that the number of times I cut a full sheet of plywood on my Mark V could be counted on one hand. I never felt safe doing this. I switched to using my circular saw and a straight edge, but once I purchased a tracksaw it became effortless to break down sheet goods in my shop. Today...

Re: Speed dial handle
Thanks for the replies. I found a small knob (2" diameter) in my jig knob collection that is a press fit on the speed dial handle. It can be removed easily if needed. Works good for my slightly arthritic hands. I am mindful of going slow on my speed changes. This idea may be helpful to those w...

Re: 3D printed axial cyclone for dust separation
IMO Pilson Guitar is going way beyond personal use. The YT channel video provides a design (derived from Harvey's), DIY instructions, and affiliate links for buying the available parts. Thus putting their slightly modified copy of Harvey's IP our there for a profit. They also put out the STL files ...

Re: 3D printed axial cyclone for dust separation
While I think the Pilson Guitars guy did a good job, I suspect that replicating the Harvey Gyro Air internal separator design is a violation of their patent rights. And that what he refers to as an impeller is not one. ;) I didn't research their patents to confirm. Nice of him to give them credit f...

Re: Baking center
Actually it is tea. :) Everyone in the family drinks tea but only my husband drinks coffee. I am not sure why she decided to collect mugs. Brenda, Fellow tea drinker here as well. Thanks for the storage/display inspiration. That is an eclectic assortment of mugs...very nice. My son and I...

Re: 3D printed axial cyclone for dust separation
I finally watched all three of those axial-cyclone videos, and the guy is a pretty entertaining presenter. I have a 3D printer, and have used it a lot. But the novelty has worn off, and I wouldn't be excited about printing for hundreds of hours to build those twin cyclones! The videos did get me cu...
