If the trust fund had not been pilfered by Congress, would Social Security be solvent today? Yes, but without indexing for longevity it would still have failed in 2030. A previous president (Regan and/or Clinton to be none partisan) improved the situation by making some minor adjustments in the ret...

Did more than a couple of years in the NYPD and the teams that I worked with took more than 100 guns off the streets. Never, not once, nada, zero, zilch, did we ever take a gun from someone who possessed it LEGALLY. Bad guys don't get permits. I propose severe civil penalties for people who do not p...

Absolutely. If they were no hazard at all, Shopsmith would most likely have assigned them a part number and offered to sell you one. They do not. I think that says it all. Are they hazardous in themselves? Probably not as long as nothing other than a Mark 7 or PowerPro Headstock (not to be confused...

If you do make a cheater cord for 110 to 220 please only make it about a foot long. A cheater with a 220 plug and a 110 style socket for the new Mark7 could give someone a nasty surprise if they plug into 220 and try to use a 110 tool on the other end. Also has the potential to be lethal. Which is ...

Use the Post Office. NO Body else can compete on any level. Cheaper, more efficient and reliable and absolutely just as fast. If you like paying more than $10 for sending a letter or other documentation, go FedEx or UPS. I'll send mine for a mere 46 cents and get there about the same time. End of m...

It would be interesting to see how many forum members have made the big move to a Power Pro. Poll options: 1. Yes, I have the Power Pro 2. No, but I plan on purchasing one this year. 3. No, I have no plans on purchasing one. Yes, I have the Power Pro (upgrade) and all the rest of the upgrades to ma...

I recommend an adapter so that you can run on 120 if you need to. I would strongly recommend you not change the cord.

Some of this could be heresy, but here is what I think: 3) Take Social Security, and pay back those who have paid into it but not taken anything out. Or plow it into Medicare to be used for that person's health insurance in old age. BPR I agree with all of them except 3, there is no money in the So...

If we were only 17 TRILLION is debt it might not be so bad but the real number is 140 TRILLION in unfunded liabilities. Current income from social security and Medicare destined to pay for the retirement of younger workers and $400,000 knee replacements is being spent today to fund the government an...

Curious how much drift can be set using this fence. I have the old table and plan to use the SS miter gauge in the east west slot and a tall fence for resaw and rig some sort of bolt to gently lush the miter bar / gauge forward little by little for thin cuts. Since fences are designed to be paralle...
