Yes, the arms of the centrifugal switch were bent when the rotor side out of the casing. This is a common problem when disassembling this motor. You will need to bend the legs so that the switch contact points are firmly together with the rotor front plate on the casing as shown in your picture. I use a nail file to file and polish the centrifugal points for good contact. Using any ohm meter, pushing on the centrifugal switch plastic rotor sleeve, you should go from a short (0 ohms) to an open circuit and back to a short when the sleeve is released.

I am not familiar with that version of the start switch, but perhaps the 'slipping' caused the stationary contact bracket to get pushed.

Verify the actuating ring/weights etc. are freely moving full range towards closed position(stopped).

Try gentle 'forming' to increase closed contact pressure. The movable contact should deflect slightly when closed.

Also clean up with a few strokes of very fine sandpaper facing both contacts.

Good Luck!!!

Thanks to all for the timely and helpful advice. A little gentle re-forming of the thin copper piece, as well as a little persuasion on the heavier aluminum clips, did the trick. With the switch removed and while squeezing the contacts together and pulling 280 grit sandpaper between them also cleaned both contact points. All back together now and starts and runs great!
