Re: Drill press won't go high enough for lock to work
I also would like to see pictures of the bench tubes, hinge casting and lift assist. How is the lift assist put on the bench tubes? is the lift assist cross bar interfering in raising the SS to drill press?

Re: Drill press won't go high enough for lock to work
I haven't had a chance to work on this issue for a while, did talk to SS customer service a couple of times and was asked to send additional photos but nothing since October 24th, I have decided they aren't going to even try to help.
Two answer a couple of questions asked, the problem is the same with or without the lift assist connected, and existed prior to installation of the lift assist and even before the double lift was installed as well. The drill press won't come up to 90 degrees, it doesn't go past 90 as suggested.

I attempted to load photos but they are too large so will try to get a smaller one.

Make photo 4 a full operator side view.

Re: Drill press won't go high enough for lock to work
I read through what others have asked. Like all I wish I could see it first hand.
Is it at all possible the way and bench tubes are reversed? They are not the same length.
Since nothing else made sense, I thought I would ask.

Re: Drill press won't go high enough for lock to work
Photo 3 appears to show the hinge fully rotated to vertical.
The mystery remains why the way tubes are not then vertical(+-).
Way/bench tubes reversed would lead to problems on the lock down(headrest) end.

Re: Drill press won't go high enough for lock to work
The one photo from the "other" place shows the screw being where it should be if the hole is where it should be. This then would imply the locking portion is working and thus the hinge is allowing the full tilt. If this is the case then the only thing left is the assembly of the machine where the way tubes are not fully inserted and the whole end assembly is tilted. We have seen this before and there is a thread on it.
To see if this is the case we need a side view showing the way tubes and legs to see if it looks tilted. A full profile of that side of the machine would be preferable.
This could be due to the way and bench tubes being swapped or just not inserted far enough.
Do keep in mind if this is the case you should not be using the machine for anything.
As a reference this is a picture of my non-dual tilt where you can see the screw in the hole and the hinge fully open.
