Here's the outfeed table after the Evaporust bath and some metal polish. There is some minor pitting at the end, I don't think it will be an issue.
Re: Refurbishing a MkV 510
Finally all the parts arrived and I can start putting it back together.
Upper shaft reinstallation
Found a 36mm Ford axle nut socket works great to seat the spring clip

Re: Refurbishing a MkV 510
Guessing here - Maybe that's the button sliding along the face piece on the new pork chop (aka speed control quadrant.(?) Is it quieter going the other direction? I don't lubricate that face but JPW would not hurt it and might confirm the source of the sound. That face usually has a shiny wear line on it after some use, and I know it starts out a little rough. The most important thing is that the control sheave slides smoothly and easily on the shaft. I see you did the Bill Mayo improvement, good one.John4337 wrote: ↑Fri Oct 22, 2021 3:27 pm Speed control in. Here's s quick video. Not sure about the noise, did I forget to lubricate something?

I noticed that you put the upper drive in before putting the Drive and Ring on it. Did you have any trouble doing it in that order? I'm wondering about leverage to seat the Ring.

Did you put graphite on the worm gear? I also put a little on the speed control gear.

Re: Refurbishing a MkV 510
Thanks all, traced it to the flat spring under the speed handle, guess it was rubbing on the back of the handle. I put some wax on it and it got better. Probably couldn't hear it with the motor running anyway
Re: Refurbishing a MkV 510
Well, done, and surprisingly, no leftover parts.
Re: Refurbishing a MkV 510
David, I just went in the order of the items on the forum, probably beginners luck, but I didn’t have any trouble getting things in.DLB wrote: ↑Fri Oct 22, 2021 4:35 pmI noticed that you put the upper drive in before putting the Drive and Ring on it. Re: Refurbishing a MkV 510
My speed control was very difficult to turn after I lubed and put everything back together, so I decided to wax the back of that handle plate, and it made it much easier to turn. The only problem was that when I got the speed up to R the speed control continued to turn and accelerate on its own. I had to remove the wax.
