Looks good! Quite a workout for your Shopsmith equipment!

LOL It did do a lot of work . this was all rough cut hard wood lumber . there is a huge difference between soft and hard wood and the different grain patterns , especially around the knots . If I had it to do over again I would request all 1/4 sawn , the 1/4 sawn worked much easier and had more character .

Now THAT is a lot of work! And it’s looking great.
I can’t wait to see the walnut trim. I have a similar (but long-delayed) project underway with cherry paneling milled from rough lumber, and walnut trim is the plan.
The weather isn’t always the best here in Ohio, but there are definitely advantages to living in the Eastern Deciduous Forest!
One thing we ran into with the rough cut lumber was the width of each board , they were not all the same width , instead of making each board the same width we just went with it trying our best to keep the lines running straight and cutting down on waste . the stuff is like gold now .

That is the beauty of working with and milling down rough lumber however you want. You have a much wider latitude to make your own unique artistic or architectural mark on the finished project.
The wife picked out a semi gloss urethane , since this is on a porch we decided to go with the urethane instead of a spar varnish . ok I wanted spar varnish but she won !! we finished a scrap piece of the hickory and I believe we are very happy with the results .
You are right sehast, , when you spend that much time on each board you really feel bad if your cut was off .
