If you have concerns about something slipping from the drive spur drill a hole just big enough to slide the blank over the drive spur and have fun.
If you want to know the max that you can put on an SS find my thread on Turning to Capacity on an SS. I had to disassemble one end to mount the blank and rig an outboard tool rest. I have step by steps pics of how I ensured that this was done safely with a speed reducer. I did end up doing the main turning on a 20" Laguna, but never exceeded 200 rpm on it due the set up location.
