Rocking horse plans

Post by dave59 »

Hi Guy's, I'm trying to find a pattern for the rocking horse pictured. I lost my templates and paper pattern in a fire years ago and would love to start making them again! Any help is greatly appreciated.

Update: Thanks for some great help finding the plans, I've completed one for my grandson :) Now I've had a few requests for others. I have no idea what to charge for one though, as all the ones I've ever made have been gifts.

I made the Shopsmith rocking horse about 28 years ago. Shopsmith"s link is broke and after several emails, I have had no response. Does anyone know where the plans can be obtained? I now have several grandchildren that are approaching 'rocking horse' age. I would appreciate any help in locating the plans.

Not sure if it is the one you want but there is a plan in the Nov/Dec 2001 Hands On magazine archive. https://www.shopsmith.com/ownersite/handson/index.htm

Thanks for the quick response. It is not quite the one I am looking for. The plan I am looking for is like the picture posted above. I will keep looking. Thanks again.

Hello all- I just rejoined the group after an extended absence and am also looking for the plans pictured in dave59 post. I made this about 34 years ago for our daughter and am repairing that one but would like to build a few more. Thanks!

It would appear that these plans were published and sold by Family Tradition Woodworking Plans, who are no longer in business.
link to an Internet Archive snapshot of their old web site.

Since you have the one you are repairing, you could make new templates from it. Or watch for a used set to come up on eBay.

Thank you for the information, rpd. Guess I will try to trace my old horse.
If anyone runs across a set of those plans, please message me.
Thanks again.
