What is this?

Post by DarthTader »

I inherited a shopsmith mark V.
I'm not new to wood working but I've never seen a blade like this with irregularly spaced teeth.

I don't know what that is but it looks more like a cover than a blade. The center holeooks off-center which means it would produce a good amount of vibration.

that is not a blade. It is not a Shopsmith part/product. Goes in the trash bin here. :)

It is interesting that it appears to have carbide teeth, but an off center hole???

not sure of the intent of the blade but it is interesting.

BTW it appears the hole is in the center, just our prospective that is off.

well good to know it's not a Shopsmith part I spent the better part of the day looking thru the 2 books I have.
it definitely looks to be carbide teeth (can't confirm the material but they are definitely brazed on) sheet metal is definitely a good thought.

thanks for the help yall.

Notice the two "extra" holes near the arbor hole. This blade (if that is what it is) is not designed to be mounted on just any arbor.
