DIY Mounting Base?

I've been keeping my Magna Jointer on its side on a deep shelf but need a better way to store it as it is a pain to get it in and out when I need it. Thinking of building a dedicated shelf for it and found the Mounting Base (505655) on the ShopSmith website. Before I shell out $55 plus shipping, has anyone on here built their own stand for their SPT? If so, care to share the plans?

Stacked 2x4 with 1 1/2" pair of holes.
May need to account for eccentric posts or collars.

4x4 drilled with 1 1/2" holes. A piece of 2x4 on the side keeps it from tipping. My used belt sander came with something similar on wheels that I keep a bandsaw on now.

Some of my SPT"s are stored on the Shopsmith Mounting Bases. That is my Jointer, Jig Saw, Belt Sander, Band Saw and Strip Sander. My Scroll Saw always sits on one of my Power Stations. I did make a wood mounting for the Extension Table on my accessories cart to keep it on when it is not on my Mark V 520. That's the same cart my SPT's stored on Mounting Bases are on. I made special wood mounting blocks for my Model 10 Jig Saw and Model 10 Jointer the Model 4E since neither has SPT mounting posts. Either way, wood blocks or the Mounting Base, work well for storage.

Use caution in your design if your Jointer is set up for dust/chip collection. Those plastic parts can't take the weight of the Jointer. I used to use a drilled 2X and it didn't work for a newer Jointer.

Mine is set up with those plastic parts. Thanks for the heads up on that. I can try the 4x4 method with some cutouts for the plastic parts. If that fails, then I'll just have to buy the mounting base.

I'd be interested to see what your accessories cart looks like ...and take some ideas from it

Here's what I did. After landing the adjustment knob on the bracket a few times, I put some magic marker arrows and guides on the jointer
and holder to avoid crushing anything important.
