More construction project than Woodworking

Post by everettdavis »

No Abby, that is not a new dog house. It will be Mrs. Santa Claus holiday decorations storage facility with wrap around shelving for bins that are in attic, my lofts, my shop, and various closets.

Maybe I will get back to more Shopsmith work of a different nature when I reclaim the space!

Great idea, Everett - I feel your pain! Please post more pics when finished and filled, for my own wife to see.

Everett,

Looks good! Are you doing it yourself or did you hire someone? Seeing it brought back memories of when I was a teenager helping my Dad build his 12'x18' woodworking shop from the ground up.

I’m building it myself and showing my two sons how it’s done. I hired a fellow to pour a concrete foundation, then designed and built it with my sons doing lifting and ladder work.

We’ve done a lot of remodeling together through the years together but never designed and built something from the ground up.

I have a roofing contractor I use who will put on the roof. We will deck it, do soffit, fascia, trim it and paint it.

No electrical but will have a light switch, and solar led lights I suspect.

I think that is awesome. I remember my Dad teaching me when we built his wood shop. It was so many years ago, but I still remember it fondly. Hope your sons enjoy it as much as I did before. Keep us updated as it progresses.
