Window surround
I finished my latest project. Hubby got me some red oak plywood to make it. I do not like the way the oak veneer splinters when cut. I made it in sections then assembled them together. I used metal dowels to connect the bookcase sections and wood dowels for the base sections to the long bench and header sections. This is to allow the various sections to be moved separately. The two base sections fit around the heating duct and the bookcases along the window frame. The bench sits just under the window molding.

I want to do something like this in the master bedroom but never seem to get to it so good on you for actually doing it.

Wow! Great work!

Brenda,
Nice work and a beautiful addition for your home.
I have had the same problem with oak veneer splintering when being cut. One thing that can help is scoring the cut first with a sharp knife.
