Re: Is Wood Movement a Myth?

35 or so years ago I was building a swing bassinet for my first grand daughter. I messed up one end that about a thirty inch glue up. I need a 6 inch wide board to glue up another end. So I went to closest wood supply not the one I had bought the original boards from got a 4 foot by 6 inch board came home edged glue the new end up and proceeded to finish the swing. 30 years later after 8 grandchildren each spending their first year in the bassinet, I noticed that the end was splitting at the seam between the original wood and the replacement wood.
To me wood movement is real. I pryed the crack a little wider pumped wood glue in and squeezed it back together so far it has held up for 4 great grandchildren.😂
