Hey guys,
I'm trying to figure out these scroll saw blade specs. For example, some mfgrs give a # specification, like #5, some give dimensions & # of teeth/in. Is there a way for me to know that a #5 is x.xx inches & y teeth/in.?
Thanks!

On my scroller (not a ShopSmith model) I use Flying Dutchman blades. They only come pinless, so if you have a ShopSmith saw (I think) you are in luck!

Mike has pretty complete specs and descriptions on his site for the blades he sells, right down to proper pilot sizes for given blades. You cannot beat the quality of these blades OR the prices.

Blade Selection Chart
Hi DC -
The Olson Saw Company web site has a downloadable (PDF) "Scroll Blade Selection Chart". The chart covers a wide range of blade types and purpose. It also has a column listing a Universal Number (Univ No). for some blade types.

I have used Olson blades & have been satisfied with their durability and quality of cut. My scrollwork is mainly on thicker woods [1”- 2 ½”], thus I do not know how well they perform in fretwork. Based on Marks recommendation I am about to give the Flying Dutchman blades a comparison try. BTW-The FD website has a free blade offer.
