Re: rubber-bonded abrasive wheel

I have a rubber bonded abrasive wheel for my Shopsmith (505579) and have been afraid to try it because I thought the tool would dig in and catch. I think I will try it on the back side of the wheel if I understand what has been posted. It seems it would provide a sharper surface on my lathe tools. Larry

Why would it have more of a tendency to catch? If anything I think less.

So how is the chisel being held to the wheel?

I typically do not do climb grinding.

I would place the heel of the lathe tool in the direction of the rotation which would rotate away from the end. Climbing would be a good analogy. Has anyone tried this? It would be like buffing the the cutting end. Larry
