If it was made by any of the companies who made the Shopsmith's over the years it will look like the ones in the two pictures below. The first picture is the older ones and can use the "old" style knives. The one in the second picture is the current Molder Head.

There are Molder Heads from other manufacturers that can fit on the Shopsmith but use their own knives for them. If the one you bought does not match any of the ones pictured than you will need knives from it's manufacturer.

Oldest!!! I think the 'older version' is the same thickness. The newer ones are thicker IIRC.

May be a brand X?

Gio800,

I have one that is very similar to yours. It only has markings for a patent number and US. It is a Delta brand Molder Head and I have 5 sets of knives with it. The delta knives are thicker than the original Shopsmith/Magna Molder Head knives. I don't know how the knives compare to the current Shopsmith Molder Head and knives. Something most if not all Molder Heads have in common is a mounting hole that fits a 5/8" shaft. Besides having all the older Molder Heads shown in the first picture in my first post above I have a PowrKraft Molder Head that was actually made by Magna for Montgomery Ward, a different Delta and a couple different Craftsman. They all have the 5/8" bore for mounting on an arbor or the spindle of a table or radial arm saw. Only the early Shopsmith/Magna Molder Heads have a set screw to attach directly to the spindle of a Shopsmith tool and do not require an arbor for mounting. The current Shopsmith Molder Head requires an arbor for mounting (P/N 505506 Molder/Dado Arbor). I should mention there is an additional Molder Head made for the Shopsmith SawSmith Table Saw that is not pictured in my earlier post.
