Re: Request for Information - 12" Planer Label and Speed Control

Post by br549 »

Planers without the large label on the cover apparently have only "High", Low", and "Medium" on speed control knob. The manual (page 40) has a "Speed and Feed Chart" that uses the same High, Low and Medium designations as well as giving more specific feed rates in SFPM (Surface Feet Per Minute), ranging from 5 SFPM (Low) to 12 SFPM (High).

Planers with the large label on the cover apparently have numbers 1 thru 10 on the speed control knob, and these correspond to the feed rates shown on the large label.

I have taken both types of speed control knobs and made one more "Universal" label.

IIRC the feed rate varies between the power planer and the mark mount planer.(different motor)

You are correct (as usual). I have made a second combination label for the Professional Planer. Thanks to Everett's restored manuals for all versions of the planers, I found that the feed rate for the Professional Planer varies from 7 Surface Feet Per Minute (SFPM) to 20 SFPM.

Thanks for pointing out that the feed rate range for different versions of the planer are not the same.
