Router / Shaper Fence for SS Mark V 510

Post by billmcsp »

I purchased a router shaper fence similar to the one shown below.

I'm trying to figure out how to attach it to the table when using my SS in the overhead routing mode. The clamps at the bottom of this fence do not fit the size of my table. Do I need to build a jig for this, or am I missing something obvious. I am using a Mark V with a standard 510 table.

Thanks in advance for your comments.

You have the wrong fence. That is for the MK V Model 500 which has a smaller table.

Anyone know if it can be modified to work on a 510/520? I was planning to do that at one time but ended up going in a different direction. Doesn't one just need to drill two holes in the correct locations and mount this to the holes in the 510/520 table? Or am I missing something?

Structural integrity/casting ribs. I would not attempt it. Others have.

Making an adapter plate may work.

This probably ain't going to help the OP but when I needed it I swapped out the table and carriage. That is very easy to do... provided you have a double tilt base and an old (500 or pre-500) table and carriage. But that's a lot of stuff to have laying around so I'll look at alternatives.

Thanks everyone. I really like the modification shown here:

viewtopic.php?p=16780#p16780

I'm going to give that one a try before I try drilling holes in the cast iron section of the current fence.
