Interesting, a few 510s showing up in this thread recently, and some in my local Craig's List ads too. I rarely see 510s for sale. Wonder if it's the timing, they all seem to have the old switch so they're machines made between 1985 and 1991, now in their 30s.

Here in the OKC area, I tend to see more being sold in the spring time. I don't know if that holds true in other parts of the country or not. Maybe it's a spring cleaning kind of thing.

I see more tools in general available in the spring and assume that's spring cleaning, or they want the money to buy something else. The best prices on Shopsmiths seem to be in the fall though, I think that's because they want that thing out of the garage before winter. But it's mostly 500s for sale all year. I posted one ad here in the thread for a 510 back in April, only $300. Maybe I should have just bought it.

Here's a Mk 5 with bandsaw, jointer, belt sander and scroll saw - $150. Needs motor overhaul. Rough looking but for $150?

I have seen each of those SPTs sell for at least $100 individually in about the same condition as pictured. To get all of them plus the Mk 5 is worth it. Depending on what is wrong with the motor and some clean up work, you could have a good system. There is a seller on ebay that advertises SS motor rebuilds, IIRC.

Salt Lake City area. SS 520 with band saw, jointer, planer, dust collector, router table and shop vac. $1400
