For Vets an offer from Amazon (limited time offer)
Saving a few bucks if you want a prime membership or want to extend one you already have. This is the information I found online and do with it as you wish.
This is an AP copy:
"With Veterans Day coming up, Amazon has launched a new promotion aimed at armed forces members. Starting today and until November 11th, if you've served in the military, or are a current active duty or reserve member, you can get $40 off the first year of an Amazon Prime subscription. If you're already a subscriber, fret not: you can use the promotion as a way to extend your membership at a discount.
At $79, the add-on is even cheaper than it was before Amazon raised its price from $99 to $119 last year. Not that anyone needs a breakdown of Prime anymore, but in addition to free one- and two-day shipping, it includes access to Prime Video and Prime Music, among other perks. Prime Video, in particular, has become surprisingly good in the last year.
A couple of restrictions to note before jumping on the deal: you can't take advantage of the discount if you're already a Prime Student subscriber. Additionally, it's not possible to use Amazon and partner rewards points to make the subscription even cheaper."

Sounds Good.
BUT, it did not work. I applied as a 22 year veteran and was declined. It is not worth the effort to determine why!

I used Amazon once some years ago. Shortly after that I had a fraudulant charge on my credit card. I cancelled the card and my bank told me that that is quite common after using Amazon.
Amazon never got a second chance from me. I don't need them.

worked for me. but had to contact their customer service email first to verify I'm a veteran. And the $79 is sales taxable

I'm a prime member anyway and not long ago had my renewal, no tax. Checked my credit card this time and the amount was just the $79. Not sure why you were charged sales tax, doesn't seem right???wrdavis wrote:worked for me. but had to contact their customer service email first to verify I'm a veteran. And the $79 is sales taxable
Maybe it is a state thing in your state??

I've been using Amazon since 2000, I have placed 89 orders this year so far. I have never had a problem with fraud related to them. I guess some people are just unlucky.

Boy that is not like IL to miss a way to tax us. I just looked back and have never had sales tax on Prime. Well I'm sure the new governor will fix this before he is done.
