ER10 Drive shaft reassembly

Hi All --
I recently started restoring an ER10. I searched but couldn't find an answer to this - I have everything cleaned, painted, and ready to assemble however the quill/drive sleeve has me scratching my head (and wishing I took more pictures when I took her apart).
Originally I left the bearings in-place since they seemed to run smooth, however when I tried to put the shaft back in (as below), it got really tight. At one point I tried tapping it in and it pushed out the bearing. I'm afraid of using too much force and damaging something. Is this the correct line up?
