I am 73 I have been work working for at least 63 years I never miss an episode of Nick's Englers or Scott's growth rings.
If you miss these you are missing a wealth of information that takes years of experience to duplicate.

I followed Nick from the days of the first Hands On magazine, until today. The early Hands on magazines were handed out at Shopsmith demo's, collected a complete set that was a lot of Demo,s 🥴

In this time-lapse video, Nick shows how to make a deer with just a few quick cuts on a band saw. It’s a handy technique called “compound cutting” and it can be used to make all sorts of three-dimensional shapes. These particular reindeer are sized so you can cut them from scraps of 2x4s. Or, glue up blocks from different species of scrapwood. You can get the plans and full-size patterns for these reindeer from the Workshop Companion General Store at https://workshopcompanion.selz.com/it.... Tired of watching you expensive designer soap dissolve into a pile goo and disappear down the drain?
Nick shows how to make an ingenious “soap saver” from scraps of wood.
This attractive accessory drains your soap after each use, helping it to live a long, productive, clean life.

Detailed plans for the jig you need to create this soap saver are available from the

The reason this small box is (almost) impossible to open is that it doesn’t open like a box.
There are no hinges, no lids, no latches – nothing you’d expect.
You have to hold the box in your hands just right and…well, you have to watch the video to see how the box opens.
Nick will also show you how it’s made.

And if you’d like to make your own Impossible Puzzle Box, you can find the plans at the

Well, here it is again at a regular pace, allowing Nick to explain each step in detail for those of you who would like to make your own.
Specifically, he spends a good deal of time explaining the “notch jig” he invented and how to use it to create the delicate lattice that enables the soap savers to save soap.

For those of you who would like the plans for this jig, it’s available from the

I have to admit that while I was impressed with Nick's approach to this project, I don't see the value of the product itself. My adult kids have made it clear to me that they and their generation think that bars of soap are disgusting and are just another antiquated thing that us old people use and do, like wearing wrist watches, having landlines and taking pictures of people other than ourselves and our food!

Yeah, I can see your point. I enjoyed Nick's video, but I also wondered while watching it whether it would be as applicable today or not. I prefer bar soap myself, but I am sure I am in the minority. Antibacterial soaps aren't healthy and I am allergic to most liquid soaps, but those seem to be popular.
