A kickback while cutting a bevel on the table saw goes through my wall, and I figure out how to prevent it in the future.

Wow. That's about as close as it gets to having a really bad day. Thanks for posting it.

Interesting video. I like Stumpy Nubs, but honestly I have to question the safety practices in their shop. Who leaves a nut and washer on top of the fence of a table saw DURING a cut? Yeah, I get that the top of the fence is sunken so it shouldn't go into the blade, but still.

Well, I have made the quick cut before not realizing that I had inadvertently left something on the auxiliary table or on the jointer on the other end. When, not if, it falls off it may startle you as it has to me before. So, I try not to do it any more. Still what may be acceptable in a hobby shop like mine is totally different from what should be required in a production level shop with multiple employees as Stumpy has. On top of that, they are supposed to be educating the woodworking community on best practices and what not to do. I guess I just find it ironic in an educational video stressing what not to do in the name of safety that staring right back at me in the center of the frame are miscellaneous parts on top of the fence while the saw is running. Maybe I nitpick too much, but I expected better than this from Stumpy.

I am guilty. My Powermatic 2000 has the exact same style fence. I always have a pencil, a couple of stainless steel rules and sometimes a small 2" square on top of the fence.

My hands never touch the fence when cutting because they don't need to. Nothing is going to fall off the fence during sawing.

Remember, he is making videos. Sometimes it is hard to get everything right after a previous shoot. That doesn't mean he is unsafe. After all most wood working videos (even the Rockler's and the Woodsmith's of the world) are shot with no safety guards so you can see what is going on. That doesn't mean they are unsafe.
