Not woodworking related, but I thought some of you might be interested in this. The PowerPro uses a switched reluctance motor and this company is working on bringing switched reluctance motors to many more applications because of their power efficiency. Coincidentally, Bill Gates is one of the financial backers behind this Chicago company. Interesting to see these used more, but it will probably be a while before more woodworking machine companies utilize them given the amount of engineering required. Just Shopsmith, NOVA and Rikon using them for now that I know of...
