Is it actually a sale on the Pro-Tek version? Can't fully see what is in the picture but $189.99 is a lot for it and you still have to buy the spindle adapter separately. It would be nice if Shopsmith's website actually worked and you could see real text descriptions for certain items. Coincidentally clicking on the link or searching for item # 556221 yields no results.

FWIW the whole page shows here. Maybe they send out the emails before the web site is fully updated.

The email ad had a chart showing the differences between the original SS G3 and the Pro-Tek 3G. The new one is nickle plated and it tightens right handed instead of left handed. That was a particular thing that a lot of people commented about. Not very intuitive.

It looks like maybe it is the same as one of the G3 PRO-TEK kits Rockler sells for the same price and neither are on sale at $189.99. If it included the adapter that might be different, but it says it is separate.

Then the website is out of sync with their email promotion, if that is the case: $189.99 + $24.99 = DEFINITELY Not a Sale
(read the fine print next to the adapter in the pic)

Sorry, the posting above is for the G3, you are right they have the other chuck needing an adapter. The adapter is not at all like the G3 adapter and looks to be more like a 5/8 to 1-8 adapter which some of us already have but lacking conformation of that......

It looks like this one:

https://www.amazon.com/PREMIER-PRO-TEK- ... B08NCMB6DH

I don't like the adapter being needed as it extends the chuck out farther by what ever dimension that is vs the adapter screwing into the chuck body. You will also loose some length with this arrangement.

In the picture it looks to have both the 2" and 4" jaws. The Rockler package for $189 also has those two jaws.

It appears the chuck does come with the normal insert set up as seen here:

https://www.amazon.com/Nova-Premier-Woo ... uctDetails

Not seeing any advantage to shopping shopsmith for this unless????
