Hesitant to post this until I get my router mounted in the lift in the router table. Unfortunately my new router base plates are stuck in NJ with the post office so I haven't been able to route the lift opening yet. Today I received the collets from Elaire corporation that fit my Milwaukee router. Still a crude setup with my dial indicator for now, but early results look good. So, according to Elaire their collets are supposed to have a TIR of +/- 0.001". Using the 1/2" collet with a 1/2" shank Whiteside router bit to measure off of, I measure maybe half that with my crude setup on the Elaire collet!!! Impressive, I believe, since this is not a very stable measurement setup until I get the router mounted permanently. The collet that Milwaukee supplied was around +/- 0.0015" to +/- 0.002", so the Elaire performance looks very good in my opinion.

Unfortunately when I measured the 1/4" collet (Elaire and original Milwaukee) both measure about +/- 0.002". I tried more than one 1/4" shank router bit, but with my crude measurements I don't see much improvement between the Elaire collet and the Milwaukee one unfortunately. Hoping this will improve when I measure again with it mounted. Still, the Elaire collets look well machined and definitely a little bit cleaner than the Milwaukee ones (noticeable divets, etc. in the Milwaukee collet). Only downside with the Elaire collets is you have to purchase the collet nut separately from Milwaukee since they are not included, so I bought a few of them. Happy with my purchase thus far and can't wait to try it out in the router table. I recommend Elaire if anyone is looking at swapping out their router collets and ER20 isn't an option for you.
