10er Bandsaw
I have a chance to buy a nice 10er. Always like the looks of those old machines and wonder if it will accomodate a bandsaw?
Re: 10er Bandsaw
The bandsaw will work only with an SPT bracket and special pully. Visit MKC tools online for what they look like and pricing.

Re: 10er Bandsaw
I would imagine my disc sander disc will work
Re: 10er Bandsaw
Yes it will, the sanding disk is used off the side of the table, not through the slot. Pretty much anything that attaches to the spindle will work. For the table saw the maximum blade size is 8"/8 1/4". They are a lot of fun, putttn wrote:I would imagine my disc sander disc will work
It is possible to make your own SPT adapter. Here is an example http://www.shopsmith.com/ss_forum/maint ... t4889.html

Here is the link to the adapter:
http://mkctools.com/sptmountadapter.htm
When I got mine it came to about $113 with shipping.
You may need extra/other legs to get alignment so the cost is not over with just the adapter.
You will also need one of these:
http://mkctools.com/sptdriveadapter.htm
or one of the original ones. I have an original so I don't know how much these items cost.

Ed, you need to delete the 'a' off the end of the second link.reible wrote:Here is the link to the adapter:

Re: 10er Bandsaw
I have the mkc adapters on my 10er and use it for my bandsaw (i've even used it for my planer just for the heck of it, it worked albeit light cuts with my 1/2hp motor).
Only nuisance is switching the belts , I have the speed changer so it adds 5 minutes at least to a switch over from. Tablesaw high speed range to low speed range for the bandsaw.
Power has been fine for everything I needed it for with the 1/2hp motor powering the bandsaw. A bigger dado stack caused the tablesaw some issues one time on that end...

Re: 10er Bandsaw
Interesting. Could you post a picture of the bandsaw setup, I am going to mount a scroll saw on one of mine soon and it would be instructive.Dccarpenter wrote:I have the MKC adapters on my 10er and use it for my bandsaw (I’ve even used it for my planer just for the heck of it, it worked albeit light cuts with my 1/2hp motor).

My 10er's came with 3/4hp motors and I have left the speed changer in low range for everything, (couldn't be bothered to do the changeover. ). The table saw has worked OK at L5 (less speed, but more torque)
I've only had the one speed changer but recently I've a second one and I'm thinking I might set this one up in high range.
