New Jointer

Post by masonsailor2 »

I have been waiting for Grizzly to get my jointer delivered now for about six months and was told it would be another two months at least. They are apparently having issues with the new regulations in Taiwan for casting iron. Not sure exactly what the issue is but suddenly most of their more popular tools are on backorder. Meanwhile this Hammer-Felder came on the market and was priced about the same as an 8” Long bed jointer so I drove over to Phoenix and after inspecting it brought it home. I have had minimal amount of exposure to Hammer-Felder but but what little I have had was very positive. It is a 16” combo jointer planer with their quick change knive system. There is a Byrd spiral head available for it but I will live with the knives for a while. Getting it on and off a trailer was interesting due to the weight but we got it home last night around 2200, just in time to get the bugout notice that grandbaby #2 is eminent. I will hopefully get home in a couple of days to set it up.

Nice! I wish I had the combo instead of two different machines.
