Grinding / Buffing Wheel Question

Greetings from San Antonio

I now have a 1990 Mark V in my garage. It only has the headstock, jointer and speed reducer. I do not need the other attachments so I'm happy with it. I am working more and more with metal and I plan to modify the shopsmith for that purpose. I want to be able to grind and buff metal. Essentially, I want to make the shopsmith a glorified bench grinder. I will use the lathe to turn some handles for my files and such. I will research this forum to see if someone has already done this but if you have any ideas or tips, please chime in.

I should mention that this unit sat in a climate controlled storage facility for 10 years. I am first going to replace the belt and give it a proper lube job before using it.

Thanks in advance for any help!
