I have only seen one other of these on CL within 100 miles in several years. I purchased this one from the original owner who said he bought it around 1980. It's in fairly good condition for a 40 year old workbench. $150 well spent I think.
The casters were broken so I removed them, the 2x4, and removed the drawer. It lowered it about 6 inches.

Re: Shopsmith Workbench
That is the same workbench Norm Abram used in The New Yankee Workshop. Back in 1989 when the show started, Norm built a version of this bench (well somewhat, but not really). He did mention back then, the bench (the Shopsmith bench you have, redleg) is a West German import, with a beechwood top and vises, with the steel bench dogs, built in tool tray in the top, and retailed for over $700.
So yeah, $150? You stole that bench!
Scott Markwood (former Shopsmith employee) has an
excellent article on this bench in a blog post on his website: http://shopsmith-tool-hunter.blogspot.c ... h-pro.html

Re: Shopsmith Workbench
Well spent? Sir redleg, you have made probably the greatest understatement I will see today.
(nice subtle boast by the way, well done!)
