Hey all,
I was just perusing the Craigslist tool ads here in St Louis and noticed an ad for a Shopsmith Mark 2 for $100. Couple of pictures has it looking pristine, straight from the store. Definitely not a Mark 5, ER, etc.
If anyone’s interested in it.

I assume this is the ad:

I'd add it to the collection if it was somewhere closer.

Interesting, that’s only maybe 5 miles north of where I grew up. Eureka had only 1,800 people in it when I left for the Navy in 1979, and people who lived in or near St. Louis considered us as living out in the sticks. I used to squirrel and deer hunt near where that Mk2 is located.

SASman,
A better place for a post like this is in the Community section under Heads Up - Bargain available a the top of the page.
It is a later gray Mark 2. From what I see in the pictures it is in very good conditions. Hopefully there is no damage to the wooden bench "tubes" but if needed replacements could be fabricated. The Belt Cover looks unbroken which is a definite plus as most I have seen have some damage or are simply missing. It is what I don't see in the pictures that has me wondering. If they are not included they are extremely hard to find. Not shown is the tailstock part that attaches to the extension table and the Lathe Tool Rest Assembly. These parts are different from the Mark 5's. The tailstock part is shown in the picture below and the post for the lathe tool rest does not have the thread/teeth like a Mark 5. It is a round tube with a flat on one side for the carriage lock to press against.
_ .
Out of the two I have, both Greenies, I have only one complete unit and the belt covers for both have some damage. One has damaged table parts and is getting a Mark 5 table as a replacement and a Mark 5 Tailstock to replace the missing original tailstock part. That is a plus for the Mark 2 as some Mark 5 assemblies can be used on it.
It would make a nice addition to your collection Ed.
