A useful tool for the Shopsmith and routers

Non-contact tachometer
For the price, I think I'll get one.

Here is a good one too. Price is right and it includes shipping. Note though that it comes from China with no middle man.

It seems to me that several members recently purchased tachometers.

Two things on this one, no free shipping and battery not included. There are others like the one Gene pointed out selling on Feebay that do include the battery.

All total I paid about $12.00; shipping was about $9.00 and I had to provide my own 9 volt battery. So for $12.00 and a battery I no longer have to wonder at what speed it is running.:)

Incidentally, I have discovered that the speed dial and speed charts are pretty darn close to right on.:) A tachometer is sorta like digital micrometer - you really don't need one to do quality work.

AND do not pay shipping and I am not sure about the battery.

Product Description

Measures the rotational speed with a visible red light beam from a powerful LED. It is a great tool to measure the RPM of motors and machine parts. In wood and metal working it can be used to accurately measure the speed of a lathe or milling machine. Can be used for HVAC applications in measuring fan speed. Detection distance up to 6 feet. Highly accurate, digital laser photo tachometer. To take the measurement, apply a reflective mark (included in package) onto the target object, aim the laser beam at the mark, the RPM displays on the LCD screen. Powered by 1 x 9V Battery (not included). Size : 180 x 72 x 37 mm(7.0 x 2.8 x 1.5 inch).
