I have one of the MKC Tools adapters. It works great. I've done business with the owner of MKC many times over the years and his products are always first rate. He also is quick to help and answer questions and help find parts or solutions. He is the moderator or the 10E/10ER users group on Yahoo and one of the best experts around on these machines.

I've adapted a MkV/5 headrest (ponytail) to replace the ER headrest (horseshoe) on my ER, and it works just fine. I've only got a bandsaw, but it runs perfectly.

Adapting it will take a 6 inch longer ER bench, the Mk5/V headrest, and 2 (or so) hours of wood working. I measured a piece of 2X6 to fit in the headstock, cut the sides to a 10 degree bevel on each side, put a piece of 1/2plywood below that, and used sheetrock screws to hold everything together.

I used the bench tube bracket bolts to attach the ponytail to to the 2X6 piece. I drilled countersink holes so they were not in the way. Scewed the ponytail to the 2X6 with sheetrock screws, through the side holes, too. The piece of plywood was as wide as the ER bench, and was mounted with (wait for it) sheetrock screws.

The Mk5/V headrest is shorter than the ER headrest, so you need to make up that height.

My rig is secure enough, that I can lift up the tail end of the ER, by pulling on the bandsaw.

Last I checked his website said they were currently unavailable...I would post to the 10E/10ER group to ask but every time I post to that site, it seems to take at least a couple days for my post to show up and I forget to keep checking back until there might be a reply.
