At this time, ALL electrical issues (under warranty) with the PowerPro must be fixed by Shopsmith. This is one of those things you "buy" along with a PowerPro. Let's face it - if a person is not happy with this arrangement - PowerPro is not for him/her.
Actually, the guy they mentioned today for software tweaking (headstock tuning) wasn't Wes, but I forget the name they said. Sounds like he may not actually be a Shopsmith employee. So there are at least two people who can give instructions.

I'm not rxactly happy with the return to Shopsmith arrangement, because they are not going to pay shipping from the UK and that is way expensive. That said, the Power Pro IS 'for me'. :)

The other person might by Jim McCann. He is the one that re-built my PowerPro when I returned it.

Glad PowerPro is for you! Gotta be frustrating trying to get service while living across the big water from Shopsmith. Hope you get a call soon!!!!

I won't get a call until I call them first. I won't do that until I try the Locktite as I'm not yet convinced that my problems aren't just loose set screw threads. If the Locktite works, I may buy a new hub and spare coupler.

I'm not sure the other guy will be Jim McCann as they said the guy they mentioned only calls you after 5.00pm (Eastern) and they weren't sure how it would work with the UK. He obviously wan't around to ask, that's why I get the impression he may be a freelance.

Yes, it's really frustrating from the UK. There are a lot of folks here who've enquired about the Power Pro and the local supplier won't supply.
What really ticks me off is that they were glad to have me as a customer and take my money when times were good, but they've now pulled the rug.

. . .

Well I believe the idler shaft is in the middle below the main shaft and above the motor shaft.

So, yes I presume the one between the motor and the idler shaft can be called the 'lower one'.;)

If it is also 'longer', than that also.:D

Whole lot of 'presuming', but I believe 'accurate'.

Now do not raise to vertical or we will have to start all over! 8>(

Wes is a Shopsmith employee that is also in charge of getting all of their shipments on trucks of their shippers. He works late, and when he called me (returned my calls) it was always after 5PM Eastern time. That is after working ours for most and he will not be called away to other jobs.

That makes sense.

It wasn't Wes that they mentioned, so I guess there's two of 'em.

How appropriate! An 'expeditor' to expedite customer satisfaction!

Guess he works a split shift

This is not the major reason but one of the reasons I have not sprung for the PowerPro. I am not interested in being a beta site for Shopsmith. In a year or two maybe - if I am still making sawdust.

I thought it was in this thread, but it has been stated that the lower belt being insufficiently tight will cause bing bang boom! It further has been determined that the factory built units are amongst the population with 'sagging' belts!

Tighten up the belts and try again! Then if it still rattles, call after noon(your time) and INSIST upon a conversation with the guru on duty! Make that call before noon!]

Sun of a gun! I'd seen the info about the belts causing da boomies, but even though I thought I'd been thru all the pertinent threads, I missed the part about the factory built units being amongst the B3s (Baby Boomer Belts).

Consequently I shall go thru the belt checks and see whassupwidat.

Thanks, red.

dusty wrote:Why is there not a procedure to follow. It seems like the need to "talk with Wes" has come up often enough that the problem would be better served with a detailed procedure.
And once again, especially after reading the previous post from nuhobby, I get the strong feeling that playing BeltMan (i.e. doing the job manufacturing didn't) and the other "cures" are basically work-arounds (like putting sawdust in the crankcase of your '37 stock Dodge) and the real fix is the Proper programming (finally) of the Power Poo.
And like the sawdust "dodge", sooner or later the real problem will come "back", times 10.
