Maintaining the Table Tops

How do you guys maintain the table tops. I have been told to use Brillo pads and mineral spirits but that seems harsh. Mine are in really bad shape. Some wood items come off the table with black streaks.

I wipe with paper towels and alcohol which seems to work for a short while but then the streaks are right back.

We are talking work tables, shop counters etc. Right?
Mop & Glow... Is about the same as a thin wash coat of shellac. Clean with alcohol first if needed.
Don''t smoke...

I did not equip with Shopsmiths in spite of the setups but because of them.

I thought ss main/aux tables(aluminum).

If that is the case then normally JPW. If you want really slick on the top then use Lemon Pledge but be very careful about getting any of it on the floor. Far too slick for the floor. :eek:
I use a lot of steel wool for cleaning stuff up.

I think that the question is with regard to the Shopsmith tables (main, extension and floating).

In which case: All I have used is denatured alcohol to clean and Johnson's Paste Wax to polish. However, I do still get some black streaking off the tables. Not so much on what I am cutting but a great deal on the bottom of my Cutoff Sled and some of my jigs.

What about using NevrDull for the aluminum tables? I seem to remember reading on one of the forums about using NevrDull to clean up the tables and keep them from corroding much like using JPW on the way tubes. That was before my memory got as holy as Swiss Cheese! :confused:
