It isn't the site, or (most) of the members, but the owner
has a chip on his shoulder, that he can't see around!

I was thinking about the SS group on Yahoo. (I think.) NOT the ER group!
The owner didn't even tolerate ANY talk of ERs at all. Didn't believe they even existed! (His name was Dr Dave Light, a retired dentist in Florida. I asked him if he's SEEN the light, and I was banished for life!)
I won't apologize for my comment, but I will clarify something. I assumed it was obvious, but I guess not.
As someone pointed out, the site is not user friendly. Nothing about friendliness of the participants was intended or implied.
I'm a proud free thinking, free speaking American. I don't believe in being politically correct.
That's probably why I don't play well with others and live way out here in the desert. Alone.

Back to the site, it just is difficult to navigate, is slower than dog poop, and haven't been able to find much on there worth looking at.
As far as the ER users group, I don't care much for the yahoo platform so I don't spend time there either.
It's a shame because Skip is a great guy, ( his site is awesome) and every time we yak on the phone, a 5 minute business call manages to turn into 20.

I was not banished from that one but left after Dr. Dave wrote me saying that my frequent discussions of my "rusty old junk" was of no interest to other members and that members were complaining about it and "good" members were leaving because of me. He wrote me again expressing shock after I left that I had signed off. I guess I was supposed to sit in quiet awe of what he and a few cronies were posting... Actually I did make a lot of friends there.
His battle with cancer, and I believe later passing, aside I found him to be pretty much of a narcissistic egotistical twit who wanted "followers" rather than friends. He held himself in very high esteem.
That list also had too many moderators, a few of which functioned more like the Gestapo than guys really concerned with list quality. They left me alone but many of my friends could barely post with getting hammered. Life is too short... I never went back.
On the other hand while I have not been active recently on the 10-ER list Skip does a great job with that list... I really should reactivate myself on that list now that some other things are settling down a bit.

Was Dr. Dave involved with onlineshopclasses.com?
I was associated with the shopsmith forum at yahoo but I know it wasn't there. I gave up on the yahoo site because I just could not learn how to navigate there. Maybe today because I am a bit more computer literate but why. This forum and two others gives me all that I need in woodworking.

Doc Dave did have the onlineshop and I joined it at the start but really did not go any where for me either. Left most all of the sites he was connected to but it was his so guess he could do what he wanted with them. Last I heard I think his health was not doing well and not heard anymore since. But I guess that is why I am signed on to so many different sites If you don't like one go to another. Most SS sites are good sites and have great members on them. Always one that someone or two don't like. Just keep the SS sites going.

Ok i am going to hijack this thread and take it back to the original topic. i think these errors are related to an rss feed. Shoot me an email and i will try and work it out. let me know the errors you get and when and what browser you are using. I can better discuss it that way.
PS. I am open to critiques of the ssug.org site. I also realize that it isn't going to be the easiest for everyone to use but i will do what i can to address issues. I build the current version of the ssug.org site because about 8 or so years ago I didnt' like the yahoo group for all the aforementioned reasons and Shopsmith didn't have a forum. I also though it would be nice to have a place on the net that was 1. there for all shopsmith users(i have an original Mark VII) 2. was more of a community with a forum, and repositories for information and 3. was not tied to the manufacturer. That said please feel free to contact me with any questions or comments.
As of this time, about 3 months ago I have had this problem when attempting to login using firefox. I'm now up to version 10 and the problem is still there.
It looks like some here can get in with firefox but I have to go to Chrome, which is my secondary browser.
