On many of my projects people come and want me to make them one.

I made a cherry cradle for my first grandchild and people see it and want one. Here is what I tell them, "Okay but know this I have $300 of cherry in it and 35 hours of time, and I pay myself $10 an hour. How many do you want?"

The other thing I do is tell them to go buy the wood, usually when they find out what wood really costs they quickly forget the whole idea.

However if the person really appreciates my work and willing to pay for it I happily put them at the top of my list (hey making money and is still making money) and do their project. Paid for a lot of new toys in my shop.
