prices going up?

Post by wa2crk »

I follow E-Bay trends on the Shopsmith section and I think the prices of used complete Shopsmiths are trending upward. Has anyone noticed this or is it an apparition. I noticed that one guy was selling 5/8 saw arbors (or at least trying to) for $7 above the factory price. Am I imagining this? Would it be a good sign or a bad one?

I would guess that depends. Are you selling or are you buying?

What we need to do is list a copy of the current pamphlet so that all those who are ignorant of the fact that SS still exists will refrain from driving up the prices and sellers will be less greedy!

Sigh! Wishful thinking.

Yes the going rate for used stuff has definitely increased.

I don't know. How about a quill for $1.29. Then there was shipping from Washington, ST -- $13.00.

No! Not me. I look at shipping cost before I even bid.

I look at shipping before even considering looking at it. That is if the 'starting bid is not out of sight!).

There's a guy on the Flagstaff, AZ craigslist that has a SS, planer and jointer plus band saw for $100.

Prices on eBay are all over the map, for years I have seen and sold things for way over retails price for no reason I can see. I have started to list a "buy it now price" at or near list price to avoiding the feeling I am cheating the unaware and too sell it quicker. But I am also seeing more watchers and bids on Shopsmith stuff then in the past.

Does shopsmith have a store on E-bay?
May be a good way to let people know that SS is alive and well.
I have never purchased anything from E-bay but have found stuff I wanted and was able to find their web site and just order that way.
