PowerPro in 10 years
Anybody want to guess as to what percentage of SS headstocks will be PowerPro's in 10 years. I will estimate 30%.

I don't know and I am fearful of making any guesses. I am equally curious about how many PowerPro there will be at the end of this month.fredsheldon wrote:Anybody want to guess as to what percentage of SS headstocks will be PowerPro's in 10 years. I will estimate 30%.
My guess is 167 and growing at the rate of about 1 every work day.

Like someone said if any of us could make an accurate guess on this they should be picking lottery tickets. And since none of us knows Shopsmith's current sales stats we can even make an educated guess.
I will say that unless the economy gets decidedly better fairly quick Power Pro Headstocks will be very low on people's interest lists. From what I'm hearing is this present economy is really starting to effect people that were once thought to be immune to any major negative economic impact.
I was told a statistic a few days ago and I'm sorry but for the life of me I can't remember what it was about but I do recall when I heard it I said, "Wow I did not think this economy was effecting the very wealthy that much."

I can't verify the data but I heard each Lowes sales person averages 2 per day. I don't know how many people Shopsmith has visiting Lowes but it is at least 2. So I would think they are selling at least 12-16 per week but I could be way off.

Now that is a very aggressive estimate, Paul.paulmcohen wrote:I can't verify the data but I heard each Lowes sales person averages 2 per day. How long has it been since the first Power Pro; my guess is about two years. That would be about 100 production weeks since introduction. Do you really believe that there is over a thousand Power Pro in service already?
I would have guessed a couple hundred.

From the Shopsmith Email Special page:
"It's now been about a year since we first introduced the new Shopsmith PowerPro Headstock Upgrades... and the response to Shopsmith's Ultimate Upgrade has been outstanding, to say the least. To date, over 500 of these incredible upgrades have been ordered... and Customer Reviews have been nothing short of fantastic."
So if 500 PowerPros were ordered in the first year, and they've been out for two years now, then 1000 units is not unreasonable.

Five hundred a year equates to about 10 a week.
