Oh, I'm sorry. I love my Mac! I broke free of being held hostage by Microsoft. I was one of the first Internet users back in the early 1980's before the term Internet was ever coined. I had to learn Unix which was not very user friendly. So I've maintained computer systems that were so large they filled up rooms to where I simply use an Apple MacBook which does virtually everything I need it to do or I ask someone. My Apple warranty & support expired in April which is no big deal. I have worn out 3 sets of keys on this MacBook and unlike a Dell notebook who would send me a new keyboard, I had to go to an Apple store and have one of the guys in the Genius Bar replace the individual keys I wore the letters off: E,R,T,I,O,A, S,H,N, and a spot on the space bar. It's just the way I type along with keys that wear much easier than a PC.

I enjoy only paying $19.99 or $29.99 for an operating system upgrade vs whatever the many flavors Windows might be released in. I'm still learning how to use my MacBook as I completely forgot any Unix or the many other computer languages I learned as a computer specialist working on main-frame Univac systems.

I tried for years to switch to Linux but I was always having to switch back to Windows in order to use current software apps like TurboTax. DOS, Windows 3.1, Windows 95, etc.. Used em all. Even tried multiple boot partitions. I couldn't afford to buy an Apple and I needed Windows for specialized work applications. About 4 1/2 years or so ago, my wife became eligible for a educator's discount & I sprung for a refurbished MacBook & saved about $600 and got a free printer.

Anyhoo... I've been trying to attach photos in the body of my posts and don't see how. Dusty, you posted pics of your Nova insert adapter on the long G3 thread. On Sat, someone needed help installing his PowerPro upgrade in Maint & Repair under "Power Pro Assembly Problem" thread. I took my motor cover off & took a couple of pictures & tried to paste them in the body of my post. Couldn't do it inside my post, but I was able to upload the images and I see a block with attached images which is great and got the job done. So how would I include the pics in the body of a post?

In the Community Section is a sticky on adding photos to a thread or post, but it leads me to the method I've been using which simply shows attached images in a special box; not simply showing the pic in the body of the post.

I'm probably doing something stupid or maybe since I was the author of the post, perhaps that has something to do with it. But I am not going to assume or speculate as that only gets me in trouble. So I am just asking.

Last night I tried to attach a 668K PDF and got an error message every time I tried to upload. If I tried to attach a JPEG, I received another message that my image size was too large. If I was using a PC, I could of easily adjusted the resolution, but I could not intuitively do it on my MacBook. I was able to tell the new member what he was looking at after I went through my old catalogs and found in 10/1982 that the wheel height adjuster was on the new 12" x 4" Shopsmith planer. It was made for being powered by the headstock. I couldn't find anything else on it. I enjoy trying to assist when I can. I learn something new about Shopsmiths almost every week & learned many things from people like Bill Mayo or an original Magna Shopsmith repair person named Bob Fulwider.

But Dusty if you or someone could share with me how to post a pic in my post, I'd appreciate it. But maybe that is just the way the forum works. Thanx in advance. Tony

Check out this threadfor my use of the CSD on raised panels I made. In that application I had the table at a much steeper angle, as you'll see. It's a great tool. Alec

I have been on this forum for a few years now ....
I am a Mac only user and uses Firefox as a browser (maybe you use Safari, it probably does the same thing)
When you reply to a post, you write and then scroll down to a window that says "manage attachments" .... you click on this and a new window open that gives you all the files an their sizes allowed on the forum
"In the upload file from your computer" section, you first browse for that file and when you selected it you will simply upload it (it take a few seconds to maybe minute to upload and then it become attached to you reply or you message you then click on submit reply and it will either appear as a line on which the reader will have to click to see it or a picture loading .... I do not know what makes it that way ( a line to click on ) instead of the other way (a picture that loads with the message.
Myself I prefer the first way, then after I have chosen to see it once it will not load every time I go to that thread.
I hope it helps
Firefox is free and works very well for me.

1) The forum stated pdf file size limit is not realizable. The forum chokes on smaller pdf files. It chokes on other limits as well (AIUI).

2) The forum 800 x 600 pix size limit is real. Each limit(800,600) is absolute. It would choke on 801 x 1 or 1 x 601.

3) Pix MUST be less than 801 wide and less than 601 tall in order to upload them for use either as a link or an embedded pix.

4) To embed a pix is a two step process.
a) First upload the pix(same as creating a linked pix).
b) After uploading up to 5 pix, click again on the paper clip icon and a drop down menu will appear which lists the pix uploaded. You can choose which pix(or all of them) to be embeded at the current cursor position within the text). Subsequent text editing between the pix is possible. However, the pix do not appear until being read as a post or being previewed.

I made this upload of one picture to practice what JPG made me understand about the placing of a picture in a post.
As always JPG, thanks.
Explanation of the picture at the bottom of it ....

This is a pond in my backyard. About 150 feet long by 25 at the widest.
There is a few trouts in there as well.
The beach sand on the right was there naturally, we just made the setting of it.

Brad, I went ahead an deleted my two posts that were not related to the subject of this thread.
I would be interested in the pdf file about CSD please.
Can you send it to me via private messages I guess .... through the forum.

Thanks and I will be more careful about starting a new thread when I want to add or answer to something.

Well, my bad. Like they say in Japan, gomenasai. Thanks for the info for the upload.
Now what was that about a disc? I might be able to post instructions and other info it it's allowed. But it's too late tonight.
