What Wax in the UK

Post by chrism »

Hi All,

If any UK members view this post can you tell me which wax you use for waxing tubes, tables etc.

I have been using a product called KITY SPEED, this was manufactured by the Kity woodworking machine company a number of years ago. It is designed for woodworking machine tables and beds to decrease friction, and it works really well. I got it when I purchased a Kity Planer/Thicknesser.
I have applied it to the tubes, tables, quill etc and it certainly reduces friction but I wouldn't classify it as a hard wax so I don't know whether it is forming a proper protective layer.

Johnson's floor wax doesn't seem to be available over here in the UK so any advice as to a suitable substitute would be welcome.

Thanks

Butcher's Wax likely would be a good substitute for Johnsons Paste Wax.

Hi Keith,

Thanks for the info, I'll try my local hardware shop, it's one of the old fashioned ones who seem to have everything so l'm sure that they will have Briwax, and I can use it for my woodturning as well!

Chris :)
