Soon as I figure out how to post pictures I'll do so. A cranky bunch, huh? I'm in the right spot, I guess. Been accused of being a grump a few times myself. Jim in Bakersfield.....Hey neighbor! We gotta get together and see each other's shops. I HATE cleaning and organizing so mine looks like a rat's nest. Merry Christmas to you all!

Since ya been lurking fer a spell you are already aware of two common occurrences - subject changing(referred to as hi-jacking by the overly sensitive weirdos) and the inclusion of humor, some of it pretty lame.
Since you decided to jump in and get yer feet wet, Welcome!!!
Looking forward to future posts from you(pix preferable, but optional).
The grumpy old men label is for the most part accurate and they have reason to be so.
And before Beeg asks you, Have ya lubed it lately?!:D

Been standing by reading on and off a couple years. I've had my 56 model SS for about 4 years now. I've made Blanket Chests for my 2 daughers-in-law and small jewelry boxes for all the women in my family. A rocking chair so my d.i.l could rock our grand kids. I really like building stuff out of wood. I'm now teaching my 13 yr old grandson how to make things and he is loving it. Today he made his first cuts with a table saw in making his first small jewelry box. He was excited and a bit scared. I assured him he would become more comfortable with the saw but the fear should translate to healthy respect. Thank you all for the camaraderie and friendship, and certainly for the help and info I have soaked up so far. I've been a mechanic, weldor, and electrician in the Oil Patch here in Bakersfield, Ca so I know how to do a few things. Wood is a fairly new medium for me to exercise my creative bent since I retired.
11th ACR? Great. More Army types here! (I'm a former Chinook electrician.)
