Sort of Hijacked from the favorite wood post

Post by benush26 »

Earlier today I was in a friends garage getting things ready for winter and he asked if I had bought anymore ShopSmiths (it has become a running joke that he buys another motor toy and I buy another Shopsmith) I was talking about this forum and some of the fun and wide ranging topics and casually mentioned about favorite woods topic that I saw this morning and just then his wife came in.

From the far side of the room she said "I know my favorite wood!". He and I were amused and kind of curious because she seldom says much more than Hi when we're in the garage - topics are usually cars and racing and she doesn't relate / care / take an interest so I asked her just what was her favorite wood.

She came over and kissed James on the top of the head and said "Morning wood", smiled and left. I started laughing and have never seen Bob turn that shade of red!! :o :o :o

Sorry about sort of hijacking the favorite wood thread, but it has to be the funniest thing I have heard in ages.

I am not too bright but am confused; she kissed James on on the head, said morning wood and Bob became embarrassed???? Jim (no I wasn't there.)

A wood what?

Post by BuckeyeDennis »

Jim clearly needs a hint here. I'll try to be subtle.

A couple of years ago, I saw a really strange-looking bird in the woods in front of my house. After considerable research, I learned that it was an American Woodcock. Here's a link to some photos: http://naturetales.blogspot.com/2011/07 ... r.html?m=1

Woodcock. Get it?

[quote="fjimp"]I am not too bright but am confused]

Oops, Sorry,
I'll do a Paul Harvey...

I had all the characters in the first longish post and then did a cut and paste (which did not paste) and in a hurry to post before heading out the door, posted without thoroughly checking. voila - missing text!! In this case missing explanatory text.

James - Husband, Lauri - wife
Bob - Lauri's youngest brother here for Christmas vacation ,
Me - innocent (well maybe not THAT innocent) bystander
along with Rusty, one dog really happy to be in out of the cold!!

James and I were sitting in the garage hanging out and Bob came in to say hi, about 2 seconds before Lauri walked in (presume they came out to the garage together). I was talking about the forum post on favorite wood, Lauri walks in the door behind Bob walks up behind James praises his morning wood, kisses him on the head and turns around and leaves, Rusty the dog starts barking his approval (or so it seems) and well you know the rest...

Hope that makes it a bit more clear. I tend to get long winded (the politician in me) and this time I was in a hurry, trying to make the story a bit more brief. Moral of the story, Preparation and measuring twice before cutting counts even when relaying the story! Next time I promise to check before I post! I still laugh and get a big grin when I think about it! :p

Now that is what I call funny.......
I keep finding little windows on this forum, that I don't really know what they do. So sometimes I experiment. Probably shouldn't do that, I know in my shop it can get me into trouble.
