Food For Thought or Rationalization at the nth Degree..

Post by backhertz »

Wow. A great price on the Mark 7 compared to last year's demo price list posted earlier in the thread.

Imagine: The same prices at a Lowe's Demo, with a military ID, a Lowe's credit card and Lowe's offering their 18-month no interest financing and no tax, of course :)

That would get a vet a Mark 7 for $3222.90 plus shipping (around $300- ouch!) which is $3522.90 divided by 18= $195.72 divided by 30= $6.52 oer day.

Or a non-vet just a DIY upgrade $1286 plus $100= $1386. With no tax divided by 18= $77 per month divided by 30= $2.57 per day. So for the price of a fancy cup of latte coffee at Starbucks, one could have a PowerPro.

Oh boy. If the Webinar would offer similar prices to the Lowe's Demos during a 18-month free financing event along with 10% for a person possessing a military ID or even a VA ID card (a vet needs to apply), Shopsmith would be doing good. The user would be doing good- a win/win.

Or if Shopsmith would offer financing like they did back in the 80's, it might help someone who needs more time to handle the payments.

Vets should just need a copy of their dd214. Are they offering financing at the webinar of some kind? That would be my only chance at doing it (by it I mean get the 7). May my wife would let me if I promise to get rid of the two mark vs I already have. maybe sell the stand alone ts and ras and the router table.... haha

I've posted this before but it looks like it is time to do so again.

http://www.lowes.com/cd_In-Store+Services+_745829091_

This is the policy, but some stores are a little liberal with the policy others are not.

I'm a vet, two years of service, one in Vietnam. I can get a discount only on the three holidays listed, the rest of the time it is a no go for that discount.

So you might get lucky or you may find as I did my local stores adhere to policy.

I served a career in our armed forces & both HD and Lowe's extend a 10% off discount to me every day no matter which store I go into. Several years ago, I ran into problems with some store extending a discount all the time while others only did it on those 3 days.

Thanks for posting the link which makes it perfectly clear. I didn't realize the discount applied to any vet no matter if they possess an ID card or not. That is cool. Back when I was on active duty, many of us were considered 'baby killers.' Nowadays, people will thank me for my service if they become aware of my service career. It's amazing how my daughter who served in the Persian Gulf and actually received combat pay would go to NewYork City and if in uniform, she'd be given the best seats in any theater or the train conductors never collect or punched her train ticket which in essence was a free ride.

What do I say? It's about time.

Thanks :)

I tip my hat to the fella's that put in the full 30 or even 20.

I would have, because I loved the Navy. They saved my life. I was on my way to prison or death, but they took me and taught me that there were things bigger and more important than myself, but that I myself could play an important part.

During my last tour I felt the call to ministry. It was very obvious call and there wasn't a way for me to continue on that path and the Navy path. God won, but I do look back sometimes and think of how it would have been if I had made the Navy a career.

It may sound sappy - throw it out in the sun 2-3 weeks and it will dry up. Remember to seal the ends ;)
