520 for $450 in Midland, MI
Gale's Law: The bigger the woodworking project, the less the mistakes show in any photo taken far enough away to show the entire project!
That is worth at least a 2 day trip each way. A little too far for me. Never seen a 520 this cheap and it looks good. I am sure it has sold by now.

520 from Midland
Looks like a MarkV upgraded. I don't think, correct me if I am wrong, a 510 has a toggle switch on a 510-520.

A 'toggle switch' exists on a "B" headstock. 505, 510, models came both before and after the headstock change. The 520 was introduced after the switch to "C" headstock.alisfair wrote:Looks like a MarkV upgraded. I don't think, correct me if I am wrong, a 510 has a toggle switch on a 510-520.
So a "B" headstock started life as any one of a 500/505/510.

I purchased the 520 today for $400. It looks good and was totally renewed in the head stock too. Thanks for the info and giving me the heads up on the SS machine. I love my shop smiths all of them.
I had a tentative deal with the seller to sell me the parts needed to upgrade my 500 to a 520.
we hadn't "shook hands", seller was getting back to me with shipping as he was a little too far to drive and make sense economically. Plus it was missing a few parts that would have added even more to my cost like an upper saw guard, two extension tubes and the telescoping legs that went with it.
Enjoy your 520!
