You do make a good point though. If the outfeed table is first built and then the drill press table is leveled (by shimming) there may be an issue with the table changing height when tilted.

Understand: flat and level are not the same thing. Flat means all points share a common plane. Level means that plane is also perpendicular to a line passing through the earth's center of gravity.

If I were good at Search, I'd find the post that contained the video of my 36" steel straightedge, on its edge, spinning freely on my 'new' "flat" Main Table. I've not seen a clearer demonstration of what is NOT a "flat" table (even though the variance is less than .008").

On another thread Jim McCann(sp?) was quoted as saying 0.020" out of flat at the corners was 'normal'.
