Oh 3 more tiny goodies, the long arm Allen wrenches, for the early model Shopsmiths. the short leg is at least, 2 inches long on all of them. I wish I could have found them some where else, but GLAD I've got them now.skou wrote:All in all, from what I got, I'm a happy camper.
The 500 shaper fence had a broken clamp bracket, ant I had a spare from one of my MANY ripfences, that fit right in.
It also came with a Magna Dado, (the wobble 8 inch one) and hold-down clamps and stuff, like you see in the PTWFE book. The clamps clamp onto the table or fence, and have flat sheetmetal springs to guide wood through the sawblades. You can set one to push down, and the other to push against the fence sideways, AHEAD of the blade, to keep stuff from moving around.
The ER was a later model, with the single wedge locks, and the access hole behind the nameplate. 98397. This one has a screw instead of the lower rivet, on the nameplate.

And at the end of the day that is the only thing that really matters.

Update on the ER lathe extension. If I put the tailstock outside the hinge end, I have 7 feet exactly between centers. If I slide the ways in, so there is no place outside the hinge, it is down to 6 feet 11 inches. However, since the tailstock will slide on the ways, (I have a clamp for that) I can move the pulley outside the current ER headrest, and gain 2 more inches. If I were to re-position the headrest inboard of the motor, I'd get even more room.
As soon as I find a decent (read that as cheap) digital camera, pictures will follow.
Also, I need to find some flat end setscrews, for the extension piece, so I don't keep bunging up the way tubes. (I might just sand some flat.)

This guy's extension is what I copied for mine, except for a few changes. My way tubes are full length. My legs have casters. My tailstock is inboard of the hinge base. I've got a split-ring clamp to hold the tailstock in place. It looks like he's got some PVC pipe for the join, I'm using another tailstock, but mounted upside-down. He doesn't have anything to hold them together. I've got a tiebar at the head end, with the threads drilled out, and a long bolt to pull them together.
71 inches between centers, if I put the tailstock like he does. 67, with the tailstock inside. If I were to hang the motor of the main unit to the left of the headrest, I could probably get almost 80 inches between centers.
Outside of drilling out the threads of AN EXTRA tiebar I bought just for this purpose, no ER parts were harmed in the filming of this movie. (Sorry, been watching too many movies.):D
